Candle Care + FAQs

Candle Safety

Each candle includes safety instructions on the bottom label. Candles are beautiful, add scent to our living spaces, and are safe to enjoy, but attention should be given to the following safety guidlelines:

  • Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room and on a heat-resistant surface.

  • Do not leave a burning candle unattended.

  • Avoid drafts, vents, ceiling fans or other moving air pathways to encourage even burning and minimize smoke or a flickering wick.

  • Never touch a burning candle or move a candle when the wax is liquid.

  • Never extinguish candles with water.

  • Make sure a candle is completely extinguished before leaving the room.

  • Keep candles out of the reach of small children and pets.

  • Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.

Candle Care

Candles with wooden or cotton wicks will need the wick trimmed prior to lighting, every time. Without trimming, the wick will burn too high and will create a greater fire hazard. Trim to 1/8" - 1/4". A trimmed candle burns longer, brighter, and more evenly. The first time a candle is used, please allow the wax pool (the melted wax) to spread across the entire surface; this will allow subsequent burns to burn evenly. Never burn a candle for more than four hours.

Wax melts can be warmed in a wax warmer created specifically for this purpose and available at many home or department stores. We recommend starting with 1-2 small cubes and adding another if you'd like a stronger scent. The scent will fade after several uses and the remaining wax may be disposed of. The cold wax can be scraped out of the warmer dish, or you can microwave the wax for a few seconds to warm the wax and scrape it out.

What kind of wax is used in the candles and melts?

We use an exclusive coconut-soy wax blend that burns cleanly and provides an excellent base for long-lasting, great-smelling candles and melts.

What type of fragrance do you use?

We use high-quality, clean fragrance oils, specifically for use in candles. They are clean, free of phthalates.

Do you use dyes or other additives?

Nope! The wax is a natural, creamy-white color that we love. Nothing else is added - just wax and delicious-smelling fragrance.

What can I do with my leftover jars?

When the candle no longer stays lit (there will be around 1/4" of wax remaining in the bottom of the jar), you can clean it out and repurpose it. The clear jars make great juice jars while the ceramic jars are perfect handleless mugs. You can also return the jars to me to reuse. If you want me to refill your XO jar (or any other jar you love!) with wax + fragrance, I can do so for $1.40 per ounce.

When will my order ship or be available for pickup?

Orders typically ship within 2-4 business days. If you've chosen local pickup (in Lincoln, Nebraska), your order will usually be available in that same timeframe.

Do you ship outside the US?

Not currently.
